The family moved to the United states in 1967, she was 9 years old. She graduated from Oakland High School and enrolled at Hayward State University, Hayward CA, graduated with a BS in Science. After graduating from college to work as a phlebotomist and later as an associate scientist for Hoffman - La Roche.
She still resides in the Bay Area along with her husband, Victor of 35 + years, they have 3 adult boys, serving in the United States Air Force and Law Enforcement.
